New Blog

Welcome all, either if you're just browsing or followed over from my previous blog, Mei Mei Adventures, or from one of my even older blogs Journey to Sarah Lu or When Love Takes You In. If you've been following for a while, you know that these blogs have followed my family's story of bringing home my amazing little sisters from China, chronicling their adoptions, our journeys, and life at home.  This blog is a continuation of just that. And while we are not adopting again {although I so entirely wish we were}, I am going to continue with blogging, chronicling our journey through life and yes, it will focus greatly on the very awesome now first graders Sarah and Chayah!
If you're just starting to follow, you may be a bit confused as to who we are, so here's the brief rundown...
Sarah is the baby of the family, but she definitely does not like to be known as that. She prefers to be considered the oldest.. She is six years old and came home when she was two and a half from Hebei, China. She is amazing, spirited, funny, and extremely athletic. A few weeks ago, she took it upon herself to learn how to do a one-handed cartwheel. Within a few tries, she had it down perfectly and continues to do it seamlessly and like she's been doing it her whole life. She loves to play, watch princess movies, and she refers to herself as the "nature lover".

Chayah (pronounced k-eye-ah) is eight years old, but as tiny as can be. She is a little bit smaller than Sarah still {which of course makes Sarah extremely happy to feel "older"}, but is quickly catching up! She came home when she was six and a half years old and adjusted extremely fast and amazingly to her new life. She picked up English super fast. She and Sarah were both adopted from the same orphanage, which is not very common. They were friends before Sarah came home and we met her in the orphanage when we were adopting Sarah. Through a series of miracles, we found her file on a waiting child list and were able to bring our Chay Chay home too! Chayah loves pepperoni's, strawberries, chips, and seaweed {most likely not together, but she has come up with stranger things to eat so I might not be surprised if she did}.. She is silly and goofy and an absolute sweetheart. As one of her friends at school said, "What would we do without Chayah?!"

My name is Staci, I'm 19 years old and the only older sister left at home. I just finished my third year in college, studying Human Services (pretty much, Social Work). I hope to work in adoptions/ orphan care/ missions someday and I love China and want to go back {I went on Sarah's adoption trip for two weeks in 2006}.

Our family also consists of my parents, two older sisters, two brother-in-laws, and two dogs {not to mention the sisters' dogs which brings the total canine count to four}.

The name of the blog is inspired by Pastor David Platt's SERMON SERIES and BOOK, "Radical". I've found both to be extremely challenging, true, and life-changing if you let them be. It stands on the truth that in order to follow God, we have to be willing to give up everything to follow Him-- living with radical abandon to everything around us, solely focused on the cause of Christ, which I felt would make a good blog title to focus on what is truly important and serve as a reminder in our day-to-day lives.
